What a surprise


Our task was to create a 30 second piece where someone is given something that changes their emotion. I developed skills such as filming using different shot types and directing where the camera should be and what effect that could show. The use of music and voice to contribute to the overall piece. We also used techniques such as a graphic matches and action matches to make a smooth and clean looking video.

Today our task was to take a range of shots around the school.  A tilt shot or canted angle is used to show speed, movement or an unsettled mood. A long shot is used to show something at distance. It can be used to show a character at distance and to show that they are dominated by they're surroundings.    A close up shot is used to concentrate the audiences attention to one thing with minimal background detail. It can also be used to show a characters emotion or feelings.

Kuleshov Experiment

The Kuleshov experiment is where the same reaction is used for different sequences of footage. This shows how context is important to scenes in media as in my task it shows the actor smiling at some sweets which makes him seem innocent whereas when the footage shows hes smiling at a child being shouted at, it makes him seem creepy and weird but makes him come across as a different person.
